Move along, no free speech here

Obviously our government has learned from Beijing on how to use oppressive policies to keep an olympic event running smoothly and free from inconvenient things like free speech. Well, bill posters at least. Obviously not happy with giving the police all the fun, it looks like private boot boys can join in on the action too.

Apparently it's not to protect us from terrorists, it's to protect the likes of Budweiser and Coca Cola from other advertisers from muscling in on their olympic advert territory. So police, council workers and traffic wardens can smash in doors to seize any material deemed by those in power to be offensive to official olympic advertisers. It's a true UK Plc law.

Who said that this Labour government were the bitches of big business?

"The regulations may apply in respect of advertising of any kind including in particular – (a) advertising of a non-commercial nature, and (b) announcements or notices of any kind."

this seems to cover even the smallest of things such as a "for sale sign on your car" newly weds had better not have "just married" written anywhere either....

i know that in brisbane australia
one bloke had a for sale sign on his car while he was driving through the city and got fined for it, the council doesn't allow people to advertise with home made signs, as ridiculous as that is, at least it wasn't enforced by a "real" government...

but for a countries main government to do something like this is criminal, i suggest that anyone who may be abused by this law should have baseball bats at the ready for any arsehole who breaks into a private premise to enforce this law, it can always be said that council workers or wardens broke in without announcing their legal situation and therefore were dealt with as home invaders/burglars/crims...

its just a shame that the same claim couldn't be used against the pigs....

if you think of unauthorised bill posters as jews, then that brings a very real hypothetical that compares your mongrel government law to nazi germany practices... (excluding the death camps of course)
